I do this thick, hearty bread two ways:
1) toasted with lots of butter and maybe jam. Though frankly, on a cold morning, the hot slab with melted butter tastes perfect as is.
2) toasted with a dill or herbed thick yogurt or cream cheese slathered over it and a fat slice of heirloom tomato, a bit like you'd do a bagel. Heaven!
Oddly, I don't seem to gain weight from this bread! Pasta, rice, sure.. but not so much this. Yay.
